Well Jacket Fans,
Its over. I can hardly believe it. We have watched this team from the heat
in August thru the bone chilling cold of the last two weeks.
I am not gonna talk about the woulda coulda shoulda. Mart was good. And on
Saturday, they were the better team.
I am gonna talk about the best season I have seen in a long time. I saw a
community and a county come together and pull for Boyd. It was great! I saw
large crowds turnout for games and a lot of fans even from other communities.
The team had a mission and while the mission in their minds may have come up
as a failure, I look upon the mission as a great success! I bet he other
200 plus teams in 2A would have traded places with them in a New York minute.
To even have a chance to be playing is incredible.
To the seniors, remember this day. Not as a day of defeat, but as a day of
accomplishments. Remember of the joys in getting to the game and the bonding
that you will have with those team mates forever. If you are like the rest
of us, you will talk about this a long time and what it meant to even have a
chance to have played in "THE BIG ONE."
To the juniors, do not forget this game. Remember the excitement. Remember
the pre game frenzy. You will be playing on the first Jacket team of not
only the next decade or century, but of the millennium. Set a precedent and
lets get back to that game before another 16 years passes by.
To the JV, remember, you are next. Some of you were able to participate in
the activities, and while you may not have played, it was a special time and
you were a part of it.
To the fans, while we may have come up short, lets remember to tell each and
every one of those players that was on that field, that we are proud of each
and every one of them.
